Nhan retired in 2015 after 34 years with AT&T and Bell Labs as Principal Member of Technical Staff. Throughout her career with AT&T she had won the 1986 AT&T Science and Technology fellowship, and the 2014 Technology Development President's Award in recognizing her significant contribution to the \"Project Gamma\" project.

Prior to migrating to America in 1975, Nhan earned a BS and MS degrees in Organic Chemistry at University of Saigon-South Vietnam, Nhan was the Organic Chemistry instructor while working in her doctorate program.

Coming to America, Nhan switched her career to Chemical Engineer, earned a BS degree at University of Madison-Wisconsin, and later a MS degree at University of Virginia.

Since retirement, Nhan has been enthusiastic in supporting various non-profit community services: the yearly Volunteered Income Tax Assistance (VITA) for low income families, Buddhist congregation for weekly hosting Zoom prayer sessions; in March 2020 during the pandemic, Nhan had spearheaded the \"Donation of Homemade Fabric Masks project\"; within 2 months, Nhan and her Vietnamese-American friends sewn more than 4000 fabric masks, donated to 29 Medical centers, Hospitals, and Nursing homes throughout New Jersey, and some neighbor states.
