Dalena's speech: "Never forget your cultural roots" my mother would always say. As a 10 year old I did not fully comprehend the understanding of that. She would always put me in cultural shows to represent the Vietnamese culture. As a preteen I was obviously curious to learn about my parents past I've had asked questions on their arrival to the United States. During their time as a 13 or 14 year old I could only imagine the fear and sorrow in their eyes to their journey to America. I am beyond grateful to be born here in The United States and most importantly thank you to all the Vietnam veterans for fighting side by side in protecting our country with my grandfather.
Thank you to all the 1,563 names scribed on the black wall at the Vietnam Memorial. You are my heroes. I thank you for my life. I thank you for your sacrifices and I thank you for giving the Vietnamese community the freedom and liberty they have today. On behalf of all the first, second, and third generation, I thank you for your services and
May God bless you all.
